The
core subjects
English: Pupils are taught to speak
clearly and confidently, write creatively and accurately and to
read a wide range of good literature. They thus acquire a good range
of skills and a love of the subject.
Maths: A love of maths is encouraged
at an early stage. As well as basic numeracy, pupils are taught
to think creatively and develop their mental agility through challenging
and enjoyable mathematical problems. As well as becoming numerate,
they can be great thinkers and problem solvers.
Science: Children are encouraged to
ask questions about the creation and use their powers of observation
to explore the physical world. They learn the basic procedure for
carrying out scientific investigation, often accompanied by a sense
of awe and wonder.
Other aspects of the curriculum
A strong emphasis is placed on creativity through art, craft, drama,
singing and music. There is a high level of achievement in all these
areas. Natural talents repeatedly emerge providing the opportunity
for a lifelong love of the subject. ICT is taught across the curriculum
as a tool to aid learning and communicating.
History and Geography complete an all round balanced curriculum
for full development of the mental faculty. School trips are undertaken
as a vital part of enhancing and enriching the pupils' understanding
of these subjects. |
