Summer Term
Typically the summer term started and it was snowing and freezing cold. The
calendar is very full for the term and I do advise checking it carefully. Updates
will be issued in due course.
One addition to the extra-curricular activity list is a German club on Tuesday
lunchtime run by Mr Spickett for years 3-5. Twelve pupils turned up for the
first session.
Next Week
The netball match that was postponed this Wednesday against Wakefield Tutorial
College takes place this coming Wednesday at 2pm at home.
On Monday we have a trip to Sheffield in the evening to watch the England Netball
team play Malawi.
On Sunday several pupils are taking part in the York Open Age Chess Championships.
Some are playing in their first ever tournament. Finally, on Thursday evening
the Leeds Schools Netball Association presentation evening takes place at Woodhouse
Grove School (6.45pm). Parents are welcome to attend and our team should receive
its league championship. We will be departing at 5.45pm from school.
The Swimathon takes place on Thursday morning at the Hydro Pool in Harrogate.
Good luck to our teams.
Cross Country Championship
The cross country championships took place on Thursday. There were a couple
of very close races, not the least of which was the Under 9 boys’ race.
Matthew Johnson and James Raymond battled every inch of the way with Matthew
just holding off James’ mighty challenge on the final run in. The Under
11 girls’ was close too, with Katie just getting the better of Quiss on
the final lap.
Congratulations to all the medal winners and well done to all who took part.

Guter Start!
The German Club, which runs on Tuesday lunchtime, got off to a good start with
12 members. Our topic for the term is talking about oneself, hobbies, where
one lives etc.

Highly Recommended
Spy in the Jungle, Sunday evenings at 8.00pm on BBC1. The first two programmes
in this series have been incredible. Cutting edge technology is used to capture
the lives of Tigers and other creatures. Narrated by David Attenborough.
