14th March 2008

Good Service
The Easter Service went very well last Friday. Thank you to all who attended. The addition of musical items gave another dimension which worked well, and Reverend Robinson from St Matthews Church gave a very good address at the end. There was some good speaking and excellent singing.

Inspection Over
Thank you for all your support during inspection week. Special thanks to the parents who came to speak to the inspectors on Wednesday morning. At this stage all the judgements are confidential and cannot be released until the report is published. However, what I can say is that it has been a very successful week and we all can take an Easter break in the full knowledge we have earned it.Term Ending
This short Spring term is now over and we have a three week break for Easter. I hope everyone has an enjoyable break. We start again on Monday 7th April.
Everyone will take home a calendar for next term so I do advise checking it carefully as it is a busy term. We are also publishing provisional dates for next year.

Changes to After School Clubs
Next term the nights for after school clubs are changing. Please note these changes carefully.
Art club will now be on Tuesday
Chess and drama clubs will now be on Wednesday
Story Club will now be on Monday
Netball will continue on Thursday

When we get back
There are three events to note in the first week. Thought the season had ended? – not quite – we have a netball match at home to Wakefield Tutorial College on the Wednesday, the school cross country championships (see below) on Thursday afternoon and then the choir at the Horsforth Festival on Friday after school.

Cross Country Championship
The annual Cross Country Championship will be on Thursday 10th April at the Gledhow Sports Ground and the races will take place as follows:
U6 (Reception and Year 1) 1:30pm (1lap)
U9 (Year 2,3 and 4) 2pm (3 laps)
U11 (Year 5 and 6) 2.30pm (4 laps)
Spectators are welcome at the field.

New Arrivals
We’ve a fine brood of 14 chicks. All the concentration and attention to using gentle hands when turning the eggs brought a positive result. We have named them, sung ‘Happy Birthday’ and fed and cleaned them out.
Mr Jepson, as usual, came up trumps in constructing a chicken run for them in the cellar.
Many of you visited them, handled them and gazed in awe and wonder at the miracle of new birth.
May I take this opportunity to wish all in our splendid school community an equally magical Easter. See you all in April, God willing.
Best wishes
J Watkins

Reminder
