Easy to Say
Good sentences and well pronounced.
They would be better, if well followed.
Merchant of Venice
A theme of this week’s assembly is that it is one thing to hear and agree
fine words, but it is another to put them into practice. All children, parents
and staff need to buy into the principles of the school, but we do expect children
to put them into practice. This includes total honesty by telling the truth
and actions which include harmlessness and generosity.
Good Luck
This Saturday the school chess team travel to Oldham in an attempt to reach
the semi-final stage of the National Primary Schools’ Chess Championships.
Good luck – it will be a tough day. Talking of tough days the Girls Northern
Region Competition last Sunday was as tough as anything I have ever seen. Lois
just missed out on a place in the finals by a half point after scoring 2/5,
but did, however, receive a bronze medal as the 3rd placed under 9 – well
done.
We have four players taking part in the Leeds Junior Congress here on Sunday.
Not here next Friday
Just a reminder that we break up for half term next Thursday (3.30pm) as Friday
is a training day for staff.

Keeping ourselves
and others safe
As part of school’s ongoing work in personal and social development, next
week we will focus on how to keep ourselves and others safe.
In a practical way the children will experience opportunities to work co-operatively
and collaboratively. Assembly time will emphasise this too.
You can reinforce this at home by helping your child remember their name, address,
date of birth and telephone number. This will enable them to move safely and
confidently in the world they know and the world they will come to experience.
