Short Half Term
This is an amazingly short half term but what a lot there is to pack in. There
is the Easter Service coming up (two weeks today), two netball tournaments,
chess, cross country Race 4 and to round the term off, the ISI inspection. Next
Week’s fixtures
On Wednesday we have a chess league match at Adel Primary School (3.15pm). Unfortunately
our title defence started with a defeat to Froebelian School last Monday by
the narrowest possible margin 61⁄2-51⁄2. On Saturday morning the
Under 11 netball team travel to Fulneck for a tournament and support would be
most welcome – an ideal opportunity if you have never seen the girls play.
We will meet at school at 9.10am. The following Saturday it is Cross Country
Race 4 at Boston Spa (starts 10am – meet at 9am).

Harlow Carr Visit
Year 2 and 3 are looking at plants for the rest of term. We got our studies
off to an inspiring start with a visit to Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate.
What a day to do it! Driving along the picturesque route to Harrogate with everything
covered frost, the sun just coming out and the sparkling white against the blue
sky was quite stunning.
The RHS, who run the gardens, run superb one and half day courses for children.
Our studies this time centred on soil, its formation and fundamental importance
to all life. It take 100 years to form 1 cm of soil – a sobering thought!
We also made a model flower and looked at the fundamental importance of decomposers
in the food web.
96.3 Radio Aire
…………………are coming into school on Wednesday
27th to record the children from Year 4 – Year 6 singing. This is part
of a government initiative called “Sing Up”. All being well we will
be on air the following week. Can all pupils from Years 4 – 6 please return
their photo release form on Monday to the office.

Reception – hatching eggs
Teacher: we have to turn the eggs 3 times a day to keep them snuggly warm all
through so the seed of the chick can grow into a chick
Fegor: Yes! Then when it’s grown we can eat it!
