Harvest Festival
Just a reminder that our harvest festival service will take place on Wednesday 17th October (8.45am). I will give details of what to bring next Friday.
Next Week

We are attending an Under 10 netball Festival next Wednesday at Leeds Girls High School. Support will be most welcome and the start time is 1.30pm.
The cross country meeting tomorrow morning has unfortunately been cancelled as no venue could be found in time.

Drax Power Station
Year 2 and 3 visited Drax on Monday as a culmination of the work we have been doing on electricity. The children have asked some very penetrating questions about where electricity comes from and it seemed only proper to actually show them. We have had some good trips over the years but all others paled beside this! Although security is so high on this site we went into all the interesting areas and saw cooling towers, generators, turbines and the boiler. It was amazing just where they allowed us to go and no wonder that we had five teachers and guides with us the whole time. Everything was on an awesome and titanic scale – ball bearings weighing 1.5 tonnes are used in the machines that pulverize the coal. The care with which the whole day was set up for us and the enthralling subject made this a day to remember.
