GREAT SCOTT FOR ALCUIN SCHOOL!

To mark the success of a special one day fundraiser, The Alcuin School, a Leeds based independent day school, has presented Lloyd Scott - an ambassador for Children with Leukaemia - with a cheque for £6k.
The school chose to support Children with Leukaemia after one of its pupils was personally touched by the disease and pledged to carry out a number of sponsored activities to be held on one day in an attempt to try and raise as much money as possible.
The school’s Headteacher, John Hipshon, was sponsored to run the 26 mile long London Marathon and raised £4k whilst the pupils spent the day taking part in a range of sponsored activities themed around the number 26 including; painting pictures for each letter of the alphabet and taking part in twenty six games of chess. Children with Leukaemia asked Lloyd Scott to speak to the children in recognition of their efforts.
Lloyd Scott is well known for his unorthodox charity fundraising events which have so far included; completing the London Marathon in a deep sea diver’s suit and cycling from Perth to Sydney on a Penny Farthing. He became a supporter of the charity after being diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia caused by the inhalation of toxic smoke whilst he was rescuing two small boys from a house fire.

During his visit to the school Lloyd spoke to the children about his experiences and some of the children were given the opportunity to try on the 22lb lead boots and 40llb copper diving helmet Lloyd has worn for a number of his fundraisers.
John Hipshon, Headteacher at The Alcuin School, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lloyd to the school. The children have been greatly inspired by the fantastic things he has done to raise money. Children with Leukaemia is an extremely worthy cause and as a school were very keen to get involved in the fundraising. The children all worked hard and people have been very generous with donations. We are very proud of the money we managed to raise.”
